Fotbollsalliansen (The Football Alliance) started in 2006 as a joint venture between the three major clubs in Stockholm. Together with Fryshuset, a youth foundation started by the YMCA, they began teaching schoolchildren about the core values that the clubs share and also on being a true supporter to your club.
Today, Fotbollsalliansen works with the majority of Swedish elite clubs and has close ties with Svenska Fotbollsförbundet (the Swedish Football Association).

Engaging positive supporters
It is easy to forget that the over-whelming majority of our fans are well behaved and passionate about football. Ensuring these fans receive the credit they deserve shows younger fans that they are as important as the players for a club’s success.
We hosted the inaugural meeting of the Swedish Football Supporters Union (SFSU) and over the years, we have also arranged conferences, football tournaments and supporter-orientated Christmas markets.
We work on three levels:
General – School lectures and parental education, campaigns and support for professionals working with troubled teenagers.
Targeted – Support for club supporters, strengthening of communication between clubs and organised supporters; creation of opportunities for non-confrontational/productive meetings between supporters of different football clubs.
Individual – Helping young supporters find a new role within the club by setting out individual programmes of action, laid out in written contracts, monitored ground visits, etc.
Fotbollsalliansen also offers:
Topboy – This is a play which gives a very detached view if the inner life of a hooligan. Its authenticity means it is a perfect tool for opening a debate regarding the problems facing hooligans and society. The play has received good reviews and has been performed for a wide audience, ranging from police academies to football firms. The play is currently being translated into English.
Huliganpäron (i.e. “Hooligan” Parents) - This is a website in Swedish, which is run by parents of children involved in hooliganism for other parents in the same situation. The platform has close contacts, amongst others, with the police, social workers and legal experts. Our next step is the development of a violence prevention programme that we will present to parents at youth clubs and schools.
